According to a report on Bloomberg Businessweek today, T-Mobile looks set to be kept out in the iPhone cold a little while longer, in the opinion of Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Craig Moffett. In a research note issued today, Moffett said that it is looking very likely that Apple and Deutsche Telekom will eventually come to an agreement about T-Mobile selling the iPhone, but the soonest time period that he mentions is 2013, meaning that T-Mobile would lose out on the next iPhone, which is due to be released sometime this fall. As Moffett notes, T-Mobile will be wanting to start selling the iPhone as soon as it possibly can, as not having it means that it loses out on contract customers who want the iPhone and so choose to go elsewhere, with figures showing that T-Mobile lost 510,000 monthly subscribers in the first quarter of this year, at the same time that AT&T and Verizon Wireless together gained 688,000 new contract customers. Not only that, but also more than half of the smartphones sold by those two companies in the first quarter being iPhones.
