Stuck on 4.11.08...and wondering...

Hi everyone, I'm new here as of today. I'm currently stuck on iPhone 4 with baseband 4.11.08 (just like half of this planet).
And for what I can see there is no sim unlock up to now. News are saying that Gevey for this bb is going to be released soon.
Does anyone know when and will this even happen? Or can I...here comes the stupid question...upgrade to iOS 5.1. maybe change my bb to
one that is unlockable? Is there aaaany hope?!

First off... definitely don't update to iOS 5.1 if you're waiting for an Unlock. That'll set you behind even further. Not sure what the hold up is but, there's just something about the 4.11.08 BB that the Devs just can't seem to get. Stay there w/ the hopes that something comes to light soon. When... who knows?!?
