SO I got this problem

My friend gave me his Iphone 3g (old, i know) and it was jailbroken. So i noticed i couldnt update my library on the iphone on my computer or use many downloaded apps, so i updated it. Big mistake! Now its a brick. It keeps asking for a sim card (which i dont have) and to make it worse my power button doesnt work. so i cant shut it off to jail break it again. What can I possibly do that doesnt require me buying a new one?

Get the power button replaced. Without the power button your pretty beat, Happend to a buddy of mine, and he ended up getting a new phone. Followed lots of tutorials to get into DFU without jailbreak, but none of them worked. Hopefully you find a way tho.
