Great news for CarPlay users as 9to5 Mac reports that SiriusXM Radio has today added CarPlay support in its latest update.
As well as now enabling users who already have CarPlay in their vehicle to enjoy SiriusXM Radio, you can also enjoy the commercial-free-broadcasts even if you don’t already have CarPlay by purchasing one of the many wired aftermarket receivers that are now on sale. These generally start at around $350.
Presently only BMW cars have wireless CarPlay as standard, but you can always splash out on Alpine’s iLX-107 aftermarket wireless units to retrofit your vehicle. This is currently the only aftermarket wireless option, and it will set you back a minimum of $695 up to $900.
Other features introduced in the new SiriusXM Radio update aside from CarPlay support include the ability to simply swipe to tune channels up or down. Other than that, it’s just some standard bug fixes and performance enhancements.
