Shadow Cities Augmented Reality iPhone MMORPG Out Today

Grey Area has today released the iPhone and iPod touch version of Shadow Cities in the App Store. The game uses location-based technology to create an augmented reality and global arena for its players so that they can participate in real-time large-scale combat with friends and other gamers.

In the game players will have the choice of fighting either on the side of the Animators or the Architects, representing two opposing schools of magic locked in a power struggle. Players will engage in epic battles around the world, casting a variety of spells by drawing magical runes on the iPhone or iPod touch in their very own neighbourhoods and cities to dominate key strongholds and defeat their enemies.

As players move around in the real world, their position in the parallel world of Shadow Cities will also move, revealing both new friendly and enemy players, spirits, traps, neighbourhoods and much more. Shadow Cities builds on traditional role-playing systems and concepts, offering a deep levelling system that enables players to customise their character by learning spells and developing attributes. Looks very cool! But don't forget to look both ways when crossing the road and don't stand in the middle of the road when drawing your runes like the man in the video!
