I tried to do the untethered Absinthe jailbreak on my iPhone 4 (CDMA) running 5.1.1. I have jailbroken many phone in the past so I do have some idea on what I am doing. As soon as the jailbreaking process was complete the Cydia icon appeared, I clicked on the Cydia app and it said my phone needed to reboot and it took about an hour to do so. Long story short I think I may have bricked my phone. I lost almost all the default app icons on my home scree.. messages, phone, mail, Safari, music, etc. I tried everything and I do not know what to do to fix this proble.. DFU mode, recovery mode, restore, rejailbreaking, teathered jailbreak, Reb00tMee. I took a screenshot of what my home screen looks like, maybe someone else has had a similar peoblem and can help me out

Your phone is not suppose to reboot after opening Cydia. It is suppose to respring after it prepares the fine system.

I Wouk bet that you opened Cydia too soon and didn't wait for the jailbreak to complete....you still have to *wait* after your phone says "Restore Complete". the jailbreak is still not done when your phone says that. Pay attention to what Absinthe says ONLY ...and do not even look at your phone until Absinthe shows a message saying its ok to open Cydia.

If I were you...I would restore to 5.1.1 fresh...NOT from backup at all.

DO NOT go to Settings> General> Erase All Content And Settings. DO NOT do that. Doing that caused problems for me as long as your freshly restored (not from backup) then that step is not needed, as the device is already wiped of all content.

After restore...activate your phone...just enough to where you have cell cell service and e at the SpringBoard....do not do anything else on your phone after you reach the last screen of initial setup...when it says "start using iPhone".

Once you tap the "Start Using iPhone" button...THEN you plug in phone...mad run Absinthe...and make sure you wait for Absinthe to say it is all done...and tells you that isn't okay to open Cydia...as I said....do not touch or pay attention to your phone....only pay attention to Absinthe...and wait for the okay message telling you it's date to launch Cydia.

After that...sync your iPhone to iTunes syncing music, apps, tones, etc. or just right click on your device name in the left side of iTunes and choose to restore from a backup,,.preferably one that had no problems.

having the same problem.. ive tried to erase everything then restore. ive tried to reboot. reset all settings.. i dont know what to do now...i used absinthe 2.0.4 to jailbreak my 3gs ios 5.1.1 it said "done, enjoy" so i took my phone off the usb and went straight to cydia. it started loading something, my phone locked, i unlocked it and noticed a ton of stuff was missing..i dont know whats going on please help

noticed theres over 1000 views.. please take the time to sign up and tell what you know

You guys should use redsn0w's DFU jailbreak.

You can do that if you have a lot of media on the device.

With Absinthe you should a completely wiped empty device.

am i screwed

No.

Your not screwed.

Honestly....I would restore to 5.1.1 fresh....not from backup.

Sync music, apps, tones, etc.

Finish the iTunes stuff completely.

Then jailbreak with the latest redsn0w.

Make sure to choose the DFU option. Not the backup/restore option.

DFU jailbreaks are better any way.
