Screen stuck in Recovery mode after "Erase all contents"?

Sup guys.

new to an iphone here.

My friend gave me his 3GS (firmware 4.3.2) yesterday and I wanted to jailbreak and unlock it.

Unfortunately, I master resetted the phone via "Erase all contents" through the general settings.

My phone now boots up with the usb to itunes screen.

I downloaded firmware 4.3.2 and it gave me error 3194...

What can I do to have it start back up besides downloading the latest ios?

I tried to do a restore from my friends backup but it gave an error...

I tried recboot/tiny umbrella..but nothing works.

I also tried to add a server under my "host" file..but to no avail.

Please help!!

You'll have to restore, if you dont have your SHSH blobs for an earlier firmware you will have to restore to 5.0.1. Otherwise as of last week Apple was still signing 4.1 for the 3Gs, not sure if they still are but you could give that a shot.

try to jailbreak it first by redsn0w
if it doesn't work
try to run ( start tss server ) from tinyumbrella and shift restore frimware 4.3.2 via itunes
don't forget the shsh

Unfortunately, this is a virgin phone..so there's no SHSH blobs saved.

I also clicked the "Erase all contents" before I even jailbroke it..

Didn't realize it was going to ask me to restore/update after...

sigh*

Looks like I'll have to wait for a jailbreak/unlock program for the phone..

Decided to buy another iphone on CL..

just a quick question:

he is currently running ios 4 with modem baseband 5.15.04.

if he does a "reset all settings"...will it force him to upgrade to the latest IOS and baseband?

No, resetting settings from within the phone just resets the factory settings for the firmware, it does not restore or update the device.
