Saving apps

I am getting a jailbroken 4S which will need upgrading.

How do I:

1. backup the apps on my phone that I wisah to keep?
2. restore these apps to the newly updated jailbroken phone?

If I sound muddled and confused that is because I am muddled and confused. I have had a "normal" 3GS for about a year but I am now getting a jailbroken 4S from a friend. I know little about using jailbroken phones so pointing me in the direction of some good tutorials on usding jailbroken phones would be a start. Helping me with this specific problem would be fantastic.

Unfortunately, without your friends AppleID, there will be no way to keep the apps he has purchased, whether jail broken or stock.

As soon as you associate it with your own AppleID you will lose access to anything you did not buy yourself.

The simplest way to transfer existing apps to a new phone is to do a backup on your PC, then set up the new phone from the backup. Note that I know nothing about jailbreaking, so I don't know whether you have to unjailbreak, restore and then rejailbreak or whether there is some other way.
