MacRumors reports that Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis has today told investors in a research note that the forthcoming iPhone 8 will be bundled with a 10W power adapter with a USB-C connector and integrated USB-C Power Delivery chip.

According to Curtis, Cypress Semiconductor will be supplying the USB-C Power Delivery chips that are built into both the iPhone and the 10W power adapter. The chips in question are said to be the CYPD2104 chips that feature in the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro.

This means that just as with the new 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros, the iPhone 8 would be capable of fast charging with a Lightning to USB-C cable connected to the new 10W power adapter or the 29W USB-C MacBook power adapter.

It’s therefore likely that Apple will be bundling a Lightning to USB-C cable with the new phone, instead of the usual Lightning to USB cable, or possibly it will also include a female USB-C to male USB-A adapter.
