Hi everyone, I am new to this forum thing so I do not know where and what to post where. So I guess I will start here. If I get the screen replaced on this iphone 5 will it work properly or is it more damage that needs to be fixed here?

The "iPhone is disabled" prompt comes from entering the passcode incorrectly (however many times the owner has it set to disable after incorrect attempts.) Lining of an LCD screen is common after breakage. I'd say you'll be good to go after a screen replacement.
