Purchased used iphone 6, want to wipe clean before activating

Can someone point me to a tutorial or instructions for wiping an iphone clean prior to activation (with my carrier)?

Have you tried connecting the iPhone to iTunes on your computer and restoring it? This will erase the iPhone restore it to factory condition.
Is the iPhone asking for the Apple ID and password of the previous owner?
