Problem connecting via Bluetooth to device

I have an iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.4) and am having difficulty connecting via Bluetooth to my Trimble R8.
The device is easily detected and connected to with an Android phone, but my iPhone doesn't even detect the device.
Any suggestions as to how I can go about fixing this problem?
