Phone Mute and Alarm Clock

Not sure if I am missing it, however, is there not a setting to allow the alarm to be audible even if the phone is muted?

I do not want to hear my phone going off all night so I mute it.

The VERY first thing I tested when I got my first iPhone this year. If you flip the side switch to mute, only Alarms will play thru the speaker. IF you turn the ringer volume down to 0 then you will hear no alarms. So make sure you set the ringer volume to a decent level, flip the switch so it shows orange and you are good to go.

Well it does appear to work now...had it set the same way this morning and while it displayed that the alarm was going off, there was no sound.

Weird.

I have found sometimes that I have turned down the ringer instead of the media volume by accident. To help avoid that, I now only adjust media thru double clicking of the home button, swiping left to right twice and using the volume slider there.
