Not eligible for upgrade ATT wants 399 for iphone

Want to get my wife an iphone,but she is not eligible for upgrade and ATT wants 399 for new phone.I can pay the cancellation fee and get one from Verizon for less,But i would rather stay with ATT,any thoughts?

So then why not pay the cancellation and get a new one through AT&T? Will be the exact same price as from Verizon.... Common sense fail? Lol

You may lose your number if you cancel your plan.

If you have the unlimited data plan with AT&T I wouldn't switch.
