Not always getting an audible alert when i bet new messages?

I have a Iphone 4 with the newest update (ISO 7.0.2) Some times I get an alert when I get a new message, sometimes I don't? I dont have the " Do not disturb" set up, nor the phone locked with a set of numbers. What else could cause this?

Check that your notifications settings are as what you want them to be. Next try a hard reset. Last ditch would be to restore your device after a backup.

Are they just regular SMS/MMS? iMessages only? Or both.
