If youre a fan of quality adventure games then youll surely already be familiar with Anuman Interactive and the Microids brand's iOS games, such as Dracula: The Path of the Dragon. They really have done an excellent job of porting their beautifully designed and plotted games over from PC and Mac to the iPhone and iPad. The latest game to emerge from the Anuman stable is Nostrodamus: The Last Prophecy Part 1, an adventure game designed to put the players scientific and mystical knowledge to the test.
Born in 1503, Michel de Nostredame (known as Nostradamus), was a French apothecary and astrologer famous for his many prophecies, including the prediction that the world will end in 2012.
Anuman Interactives Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy has already been a big hit on PC and Mac, and this new version for the iPhone and iPod touch has been reworked to fit the smaller screen size, with riddles, mysteries and investigations to be enjoyed when on the move.
The story is set in 1566, and begins with Catherine de Medici asking a tired and sick Nostradamus to end a family curse. As events unfold, Nostradamuss daughter, Madeleine, a female detective, becomes embroiled in a disturbing investigation, in which political plots, mystical prophecies, dark murders and unusual destinies are strangely entwined.
As the player gets deeper and deeper into the mystery, they find themselves having to solve riddles based on astrology, chemistry, alchemy and runic symbols. Using the touch screen, the first-person player moves through photorealistic environments, such as Nostradamuss home, or the Medici stronghold, and manages an inventory used for collecting objects throughout the adventure. Madeleine has her own detective kit comprising scissors, compass, plume, quill and magnifying glass, which she uses to collect clues at crime scenes, and she also has a journal in which she makes notes about her deductions and which provides the player with valuable clues and story details. Throw in the typically gorgeous Anuman graphics and you've got yourself quite an adventure!
