No text or message notification

I updated my iPhone 5 with the latest update IOS 7.1.2 and now the only notification sound I get is the ringtone for a incoming call. When I get an email or text message the phone vibrates but no sound.. When I go to sounds and try the tone I get nothing. The only thing that plays is the phone call one... Someone said that evrytime there is an update it changes the privacy.. How do I get this to work again???

Make sure you don't have your phone in "Do Not Disturb" mode. Is there a little quarter moon in the status bar? You can find it in the Control Center or in Settings.

It is in do not disturb between the hours of 9pm and 6am. But this is happening during the other hours..
