My two year Sprint renting my Apple iPhone6 and service was up on 07/27/2017, so i paid the $200 to buy it, ended up being $217 but now i won't be paying the $25 rent and $12 insurance each Month.
My iPhone6 has worked great these past 24 Months am hoping the iPhone8 is as good or even better.
Going to wait till the Apple iPhone8 is to be had and then get one, this way i have another iPhone to get working if the new iPhone8 fails.

I've bought my last three iPhones off contract. If you have the cash available, it is the only way to go. As soon as I get a new phone I start saving what would have been the rental and insurance fees and at the end of two years I have close to enough for a new phone without all those extra contract fees. After getting the new phone set up and working, selling the old phone provides the seed money to start saving for the next phone a year or two down the road.
