Nikkei thinks Apple will launch three new iPhones in 2018.JPG

BGR writes that a new report from Nikkei says that Apple is planning to launch three new iPhone models next year, two of which will have OLED displays, with the third having an LCD display with a metal back.

The two OLED models will come in 5.8- and 6.3-inch display sizes, while the LCD phone will have a 6.1-inch display.

Nikkei is usually a good source for Apple news, and this latest report also ties in with a recent research note from KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo, who had a very similar prediction, only he thinks that Apple will be releasing a 6.5-inch OLED phone in 2018 rather than a 6.3-inch model, as Nikkei has claimed today. Kuo said that he thought the larger OLED phone would be called iPhone X Plus.

Today’s Nikkei report made no mention of whether or not the LCD phone will have an edgeless display and Face ID instead of 3D Touch, but back in October Kuo said that this was the direction that Apple was intending to take with its 2018 iPhone line up. Presumably the iPhone SE and iPhone 8 will still be available for those who still want their iPhone to have a home button and Touch ID.
