Next gen iPhone SIM tray shows up – very similar to the existing one

After just a couple of weeks since the supposed home button of the next generation iPhone leaked online, another component apparently showed up. This time it’s the SIM card tray.

The site SW-BOX.com has posted that it has managed to get a hold of such a tray via one of its parts suppliers. The shock comes only after examining the part. It is almost identical to the one in the iPhone 4/4S. The same flat-edged shape can be observed, so dreams of a totally re-invented iPhone 5 hit the dust once more. Remember that the next generation device is only a few months away from launch, but until now, no evidence has been found to support the theory that the new smartphone will sport a totally different look.

However, on a closer inspection, a subtle eye might spot a few differences between the two card trays. The next gen tray features “a slight tapering of metal frame pieces and an extra metal shelf not seen in current trays”.

In the eventuality that the part is authentic, one can’t help wondering whether or not Apple has slightly updated the design of the tray in order to fit components that will serve the accommodation of a larger screen. Nevertheless, according to some rumors, the new iPhone is said to be sporting a curved body, therefore the natural assumptions are that the SIM card tray should also be curved. Is this leak proof that Apple is sticking to its classic box-like design?

The leaked parts highlight the fact that Apple is actively working on different prototypes of the upcoming iPhone 5, but so far it is indeed quite difficult to separate fantasy from reality.
