New Photos Claim to Show iPhone 6 SE Packaging

Just when we thought that we knew pretty much everything about the next iPhone, AppleInsider reports that a new series of photos has emerged to throw a spanner in the works by showing iPhone packaging with the name “iPhone 6 SE” rather than iPhone 7.

The photos were emailed to Techtastic by KK, and while they look genuine enough if you just glance at them quickly, AppleInsider notes all the many ways in which the photos look doctored when they are examined closely. For example, on one of the photos, the “SE” label is shown to be higher than it would be on a genuine iPhone SE box.

It therefore looks extremely likely that the photos are not genuine, and that the box has been photoshopped in some way to make it look like an iPhone 6 SE box.

However, we can’t entirely discount the fact that the box might be genuine. While pretty much every Apple expert has decided that the new phone will be called the iPhone 7, renowned leaker Evan Blass said many months ago that the next iPhone would not be called iPhone 7. Maybe he was right after all. We should find out for sure on September 7

I remember last year seeing photos of packaging for a 32GB iPhone 6S Plus, Of course that didn't happen.
