Need to install WhatsApp but not sure about security..

Hi all, I really need to install WhatsApp on my iPhone because of work but really don’t want FB delving into contacts etc. Can anyone tell me how to install it safely and the best settings to stop it misbehaving?

I read it all. What a bloody nightmare WhatsApp is. I just don’t get why people are fixated on this instead of Signal. I just don’t want to install it.
