i have a iphone 4 without a sim card i updated to ios7 now it wont let me use my iphone anymore. is there anything i could do to get it to work

There are no methods to bypass activation on iOS 7. Anyone that says otherwise are lying to you. If you have iOS 6 blobs with valid APTickets previously saved, you can downgrade to iOS 6. Otherwise, you'll need to find someone that has a SIM card from the original carrier of the 4 that you're using, borrow their SIM for the activation process, then return the SIM to them.
