505 Games and developer A2M today launched its furry-but-brutal, bear-with-anger-issues, action/violence game, Naughty Bear, for iPhone/iPod touch. Previously available on the major consoles, Naughty Bear is the tale of a bear, who was previously probably quite well behaved, but has now sadly turned "naughty", due to not being invited to a big birthday party thrown by his fellow bears. Enraged beyond reason by the snub, Naughty Bear goes on the rampage with the sole aim of getting his sweet revenge on all the bears that have wronged him on the Island of Perfection. This involves inflicting as much physical and psychological harm as possible on the other bears, in order to earn Naughty Points, with the dastardly scare-based points system ensuring that the more deviant and maniacal you are in wreaking your vengeance, the more points you earn.
The brand new iPhone/iPod touch version of the game delivers an all-new way to take control of Mr. Naughty Bear, using touch screen inputs and a top-down viewpoint, with the camera zooming in to capture those wicked signature kill moves in all their gory glory. The iPhone game follows the formula of the console version, featuring a vast array of weapons, objects and scare tactics for gamers to employ to maim, bash and slash their island cohabitants in a bid to earn yet more Naughty Points. Here's Tim Woodley, head of global brand management, 505 Games, talking about the iPhone game:
You can download the game from the App Store here for £1.79/$2.99.
In the last six months Naughty Bear has captured the imagination of a very wide fanbase and very quickly become an icon within the gaming world and a beacon for the disenfranchised and the disgruntled everywhere. With the launch of the iPhone version, Naughty Bear fans can finally, and quite literally, take matters into their own hands.
