I can get my email fine and can send emails fine but when i check them on my Outlook they are gone from my phone. Is there a setting or is this normal?

you must have a setting on outlook that deletes them from server when read, verify this and try again

Normally when you activate outlook in iPhone all your mails are downloaded to your mobile. Where this is not called syncing. But using few third party mail syncing apps like OutlookReflex, Dejeoffice etc., you can view your mail both in outlook and in iphone
