It appears that the iPhone 5 is an everflowing source of rumors, since every day brings new speculations related its specs and features.
The latest rumors suggest that the iPhone 5’s camera could integrate a dual LED flash, IBTimes SanFrancisco reports. This means that Apple’s smartphone will be on an equal footing with Android phones in terms of hardware.

The iPhone is very popular on the market, but not thanks to its camera performance. Actually, the smartphone’s camera is below average in terms of performance. What has really made the iPhone popular is the Apple brand and the plethora of apps available in the AppStore.

It seems that most rumors focus on the iPhone 5’s camera performance, maybe because this is the component that people hope Apple will upgrade. Previous speculations suggested that the current 5MP camera could be replaced by a better 8MP camera, which is already available on most Android handsets.

A combination between an 8MP camera and a dual LED flash won’t make the iPhone 5 a killer. HTC’s Sensation 4G and Nokia’s N8 already offer dual LED flash units and cameras with a resolution higher than 8MP. However, Apple still has an ace up its sleeve, namely a recent patent which could let allow users to correct orientation and distance automatically using the smartphone’s gyroscope and accelerometer. The patent, officially titled “Image Capture Device Having Tilt and/or Perspective Correction” could let users take clear photos while moving.

It is high time that Apple made some upgrades in terms of camera performance. Let us just hope that these rumors will turn to facts in September, when the iPhone is expected to hit the stores.
