AppleInsider has word today of new data from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners that reveals that more Sprint iPhone customers have switched over from another carrier than iPhone customers on AT&T or Verizon. According to the figures, 80% of AT&T iPhone buyers and 85% of Verizon iPhone buyers were already subscribers of the company, but for Sprint, only 67% were already Sprint customers. To break those figures down further, 9% of Sprint customers had switched from AT&T, 2% had switched from Verizon, and 5% from T-Mobile, although the biggest percentage of customers switching to Sprint were from carriers other than the “big four” or “other” category, 16%, in fact. CIRP’s figures also show that AT&T and Verizon are very good at holding onto their customers once they have them, managing to retain 94% of their customers who bought an iPhone. Sprint’s retention rate was almost as impressive, keeping 88% of its customers. More T-Mobile customers were found to switch to AT&T than to Verizon or Sprint, with 65% heading to AT&T from T-Mobile, 26% heading to Verizon, and 10% to Sprint.
