Has anyone tried this as an alternative to powering the Magic Trackpad with AA batteries?
I would be interested to get some opinions.

I read about this a bit today and it seems that it would suit you perfectly. The trackpad will be close to your MacBook anyway and so it can take advantage of a USB port and would alleviate you having to fuss with batteries.

Yes, I did think about Eneloop batteries too as they are supposed to last really well once fully charged.
