Mail application opens to the wrong account

I have 2 email accounts set up on my iphone. One labeled Hotmail (which is the first account I added) and one labeled Outlook (which is the second account I added).

In settings, I changed the default account to Outlook, but when I open the Mail application, it still goes directly into the Hotmail account.

How do I change this? Is it even possible?

The Mail accounts opens with the account you viewed before you left it. If you left the app with Mailboxes view, without looking at an account's emails, it will choose the account that's first on your list.
The app will react this way when it's not been used for a while, or after force closing it.
If you leave the app and open it shortly afterwards, it will show what you were looking at right before you closed Mail.

So either leave the app with the account you want to see when you look at it again, or place the preferred account on top of the account list in the app.
