leaked documents reveal Apple's forthcoming Ferrari iPhone.JPG
AppleInsider reports today on newly leaked documents that have appeared on Chinese microblogging site Sina Weibo from a user who is known for leaking documents from Apple’s East Asian manufacturing chain.

According to the documents, which were originally reported on by Chinese blog cnBeta, Apple is set to launch three iPhone models in 2017, namely D20, D21, and D22.

Just as has been rumoured by other sources recently, the documents show that two of the iPhone models will be upgraded versions of the iPhone 7, possibly even iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus models, while the third phone will be a high-end model, complete with a borderless OLED display and wireless charging, among other features. The new documents show that this top-of-the-line model currently bears the apt codename of “Ferrari.”

The documents also show that the Ferrari model will have a significant internal redesign, with the logic board divided into two units connected via a flex cable. The first board will contain the operating system of the phone, complete with the A11 system-on-a-chip and NAND flash storage. The second board will house the comms package, including Wi-Fi and cellular components.

The source says that Apple is also thinking of moving the SIM card tray to the bottom of the phone to create more room for other components internally.
