Lately, we have been hearing rumors that claim Apple is experimenting with flexible displays which it might tend to implement into future devices such as the iWatch. A lot of uncovered patent filings seem to suggest this scenario. Even so, Apple hasn’t made any mention of it. Until this week.

The company has posted a job add on its official website that invites a Display Specialist to join the Cupertino team:

“Apple Inc. is looking for a Display Specialist to lead the investigation on emerging display technologies such as high optical efficiency LCD, AMOLED and flexible display to improve overall display optical performance.”

The posting went on to point out that the job applicant is expected to be in charge of the design process, optical performance and implementation feasibility. The new Apple team member must have a deep understanding of LCD and OLED technology especially in viewing angle, color, white point management, gama and dimming control, visual performance, artifacts and characterization metrics.

But immediately after, the ad was removed from the website, as an attempt to wipe out the evidence, thus giving rise to more speculations. Another theory surfaced, explaining that maybe the tech giant is looking to build an iPhone that features a curved display.

Samsung is also rumored to be working on a flexible display smartphone which features OLED technology. For those who remember CES 2013, the Korean tech giant even showcased such a prototype at the event. We wonder which company is going to first launch a device sporting a flexible display?

Just look at the day of posting. Could it be just April fool's joke.

iWatch has now been pushed back to Fall. Apparently, it was supposed to be ready for WWDC but there were some problems.
