A new report from The Wall Street Journal claims that Apple might have a new competitor in the mobile payments market. Last year Apple introduced Apple Pay into the market, using the NFC chips in the new iPhone models and also the upcoming Apple Watch.

Jawbone has apparently teamed up with American Express to bring mobile payments to its fitness tracking devices. The publication writes that fitness bands like the 'UP' series will soon be able to make mobile payments at many of the NFC-based checkout terminals Apple's products can.

There's no other information in regards to a release date for such a service, nor is there any word on support from Visa or Master Card. However, mobile payments are becoming a lot more popular, so it's not a surprise companies want to cash in using products folks wear most of the day.
