How many different jailbreaking applications are there ? Can you name them please ??

oh okay now whats the difference between tethered and untethered ? Please .

Tethered means that if you reboot your phone then you will have to JB it again....untethered means no worries
Better explanation here
What's the difference between an untethered and a tethered jailbreak?
An untethered jailbreak means you can reboot your device at any time and the jailbreak will continue to function as expected. Ideally, you want to always be running an untethered jailbreak.

However, from time to time we have to live with a tethered jailbreak as the only option for a particular device and IOS version until such time as an exploit to untether it is found (untethering a jailbreak is an order of magnitude more complex than producing the tethered one).
If a jailbreak is tethered then you must reboot your device whilst it is connected, or tethered, to your PC which is (usually) running the program you used to jailbreak it originally.
If you don't tethered boot your device it will usually boot but all jailbreak apps and tweaks will not function.
In the case of the iPad, being tethered can be a pain, although the number of times you actually have to reboot an iPad can be few and far between so you could consider it better than a tethered jailbreak on an iPhone, which is no fun at all!
I lived with a tethered jailbreak on iPad1 4.2.1 for several months and it really wasn't difficult for me, but YMMV. However, since there is no bootrom exploit for either the iPad2 and the iPad3, discussion of tethered jailbreaks in this context is a bit of a moot point!

@mojosodope, correct to some extent. The portion about not booting tethered will result in jailbroken related apps/tweaks not running is slightly off. What you're trying to explain is a semi-tethered jailbreak. So here's where we blow your mind SAMMIE.

Tethered Jailbreak: Requires a PC when rebooting iPhone (respringing doesn't count). If you don't boot tether, you'll be walled with a Recovery Mode screen until you boot tether. No access to the phone's springboard whatsoever.

Semi-tethered Jailbreak: Requires a PC to get jailbroken apps working. With this type of jailbreak, you will have access to the springboard, which is what mojosodope is trying to explain. You can use stock apps like Phone, Message, Notes, Contacts, etc. But, your iPhone cannot use/start jailbroken apps/tweaks. It's kind of like safe mode in a way.

Untethered Jailbreak: Does not require a PC for anything except restoring if you want to wipe the jailbreak. You can reboot as many times as you like, whenever you like, and you won't need a PC to make stuff work again.

Untethered is the preferred jailbreak so users don't have to worry about needing a computer access to get their phones running again. But yes, if there is an untethered jailbreak that's released after a tethered jailbreak, in most cases, there will be a Cydia tweak that can make a tethered or semi-tethered jailbreak become an untethered by installing a tweak released to Cydia. One example is the Rocky Raccoon untethered exploit for iOS 5.1.1

WOW alot of info here ; thanks again !!
