this may be a lost cause and not critical. we have an old iPhone 3 which is now a glorified iPod. it typically sits on a dock, but now it's deciding not to charge. I put it on the dock and it sometimes if I jiggle it right or undock it, the blinking red battery with the plug arrow bolt screen is displayed.

I know the dock works as I can put my 4s to it and it charges fine

could this be a battery issue, connector or other problem?

I'd like to keep the iPhone to play tunes and leave it for the nanny to use rather than buy a new iPod.

any help or diagnosis tips would be apreciated

thanks, cs

it could be a dirty connector, try cleaning it.

good point. is it done with a swab and alcohol? and how would i get in there, or do i need to take the phone appart (which i've done to replace the cracked glass, so i'm not against it)

but thank you i will try it!

you can try a new battery, if it still not work, you will check your phone itself
