It truly has been a race amongst the carriers to get 4G data speeds up and running for their customers. All of the wireless carriers have been battling to secure the wireless frequencies and intellectual property necessary to roll out LTE across the nation. Recently, Canadian manufacturer Nortel announced that a number of its patents had implications in the 4G market, and the US Department of Justice expressed that it had some concerns over Apple’s interest in these and other patents. All of this is happening while AT&T is working to close its deal to purchase T-Mobile for nearly $40 billion, claiming that the purchase is necessary to secure the necessary wireless frequencies and bandwidth to support their national 4G LTE push.

Hopefully with these 4G speeds we will see the allowance of facetime over 3g officially and downloads over 20mb with out the need for apps like 3g un restrictor

Yeah hopefully the new iPhone 5 will be 4G. Doesn't seem likely though. With tim cook stating LTE chips are too big and power consuming at this time, thus using them will force design changes. Who knows though! We can all hope! We'll find out soon enough!

Today, new purported “spy” photos have surfaced from one of Apple’s China components suppliers that allegedly prove two things: that the next iPhone will indeed be called the “iPhone 5,” and that the iPhone 5 will be accompanied by another iPhone model — ostensibly the iPhone 4s. The photos, which originally appeared on iphone-release.com — a less than reliable news source — feature a hopelessly blurry shot of a workstation with two white boxes, each seeming to feature “iPhone 5” on their sides. The website also supposes that screen parts laying on the desk of the workstation suggest a 4-inch screen.
