Iphone stuck installing?

I've just bought an Iphone 4. When I connect it to my laptop it starts installing to the device, saying 'Please wait whilst necessary files are installed onto your system. This may take several minutes'. The problem is it keeps getting stuck and remains at the same point for hours.

As a result I can't get Itunes to recognise my device and put my music onto the phone =/

Any suggestions?

I'm assuming you're getting this error when connecting the device to install your driver and not in iTunes

Even I am facing the same problem. Is there any other way to transfer songs to Iphone without Itunes? Please help!
