iPhone ringtone installation from iTunes

Thought I did this seemlessly on my 3GS, however, I have my current ringtones in the ringtone folder in iTunes and tried both syncing and dragging files into iPhone ringtone folder and nothing. When I drag the 19 ringtone file, they are accompanied with a "not" sign. The circle with a diagonal line. Please help, I love my ringtones.

That sign tells you that the files can't be located because the location has moved or deleted.
