iPhone hotspot with iPad

Hi,

Has anyone used their iPhone as a wireless hotspot for their iPad? Is this a viable option instead of getting a 3G iPad?

yes it is, I am so glad that I didnt by the 3g ipad when i bought it. I use my i phone all the time as wifi hot spot for my ipad.

Sounds good, how is the speed? I would only use it when I am not home that way. How much data does it use up in typical use?
