Iphone 4S tries to send email instead of dialing a number

When I try to dial some of the phone numbers in my contact list the phone tries to send an email instead of dialing the number. Is there a setting I should check or anything else that will have it recognize the phone number and dial it? Thanks for any help.

It means that the "Star" for those particular contacts is next to their email address. Edit the information so their # is default instead of their email address.

U probably seen when u add an contact at details "home" that is for email address not for home phone
