Iphone 4s speakers

Hello,
I'm a new iPhone user that just got hisiPhone 4s a week ago. Today as I was playing music on it, I noticed that only one speaker was playing the music while the other produced no sound. Is this how it's supposed to be? Please comment back and let me know of this is a manufacturer defect. Thanks!
