iPhone 4s & iPad Photos & Albums help

I just searched the title of my question ..some results are close but not what I was looking for. I have taken photos in my camera roll and placed into albums with the + sign giving them custom names. That way I don't have to scroll through the camera roll hunting for photos of a specific nature. Now here's my question...when I sync thru iTunes then plug my iPad in and sync...none of my photos are in the albums that I created. In fact..none of the albums even show up on my iPad. Is there a way to do this or do I have to manually arrange them on the iPad as I did on the iPhone?

Do you have Photo Stream on? Not sure if that would help or not....

No I didn't have it turned on. I will try this and see if it helps. Thanks for your reply.
