iPhone 4 Reminder Alert Problem

I sync my tasks in Outlook to my iPhone Reminders. When I enter a task (reminder) using my iPhone and disable the option to "remind me on a date", I lose the "due date". When a task is entered using Outlook on my desktop, I can disable this option. I don't want to get an alert for every task. Thanks.
