The soccer World Cup may finally be over, but Full Fat’s Deadball Specialist game has just got a new lease of life with the release of a new, iPhone 4-enhanced update. The latest version of the critically acclaimed game features full resolution 3D graphics to take advantage of the iPhone 4's Retina display, iOS 4 compatibility, including multitasking, improved stability and minor bug fixes.

The update is free of course if you already have the app, or if you don’t have it, it will cost you $0.99 to download from the App Store. The game, which involves trying to hit a stationary soccer ball into the goal, just like taking a direct or indirect free kick in soccer ala David Beckham, has been widely praised by the critics, with iPhone Apps Review saying: “The visuals are stunningly brilliant and kept me playing until my hands started aching”, and Games Radar saying “Like Paper Toss, but with people in the way, and better!... it’s a no-brainer for anyone who fancies bending it like Beckham.”

If they really want to make the app like the world cup, they should have ball go flying ten feet over the goal every time there's a shot on goal ;)
