iPhone 4 home screen buttom doesn'e work like it used to

My home button used to bring me to page 1 of my apps, and also if I had a folder open it would close it and lastly when in edit mode(?) with the apps shaking it used to turn it off. I lost all of the above functions. Could I have screwed up a setting somewhere?

Try this recalibration of the Home button, see if it helps:

Step 1: Open a stock app, like Weather or Stocks.

Step 2: Press and hold your power button until “slide to power off” appears and release.

Step 3: Press and hold your Home button until the “slide to power off” goes away, and the app force quits.

Because I know of no other reason why your Home button doesn't work. And, if this doesn't help - it may be time for a quick trip to the Geniuses at the Apple Store...
