Good morning, iOS 26 is where a lot of us are right now. Are you planning on coming up to 26?
i dont know, im still on 17.7, i havent really looked at what 26 has to offer, originally i was put off by Ai and exactly what role it will play in ios, privacy concerns, bad enough with not having encryption here in the UK with the certain powers that be demanding Apple create back doors for them. So im kinda unsure whether to upgrade it or not, i need to have a good read of what the benefits may be.

For what it’s worth, I’ve always found that no matter how strange a new operating system looks, I soon get used to it and carry on without needing to slow down.

With regard to security, the latest OS is generally the best, because that’s where Apple will be concentrating their resources. Older operating systems are far more likely to develop holes.

It was certainly a worry when the British government started making their demands. Perhaps the worst aspect of the case was their attempt to make it illegal for Apple to divulge the fact that any demand had been made. However, Apple have reiterated quite strongly that no such demands will be met.

My opinion is that the British government overplayed their hand. By demanding access to any and every iCloud account in the world, they were clearly exceeding their authority. The original demand meant that it would have been illegal for Apple (in the US) to inform me (in Canada) that my data had been made available to a foreign government. Since we have rules against political discussion, I’ll leave it there.

Are you sure you mean 18 and not 26? 18 is not much different than 17. 26 is the one with all the big changes.

anything after 17 is big changes, newly designed home screen, swipe left to access list of apps is gone, settings redesigned, shutdown button moved, theres a lot to take in. Its a bit like moving from win 10 to win 11, exactly same reason why im still on 10, i hate change and having to get used to the new layout, at the moment i have decided to stay put, and i do know from Apple theres a battery drain issue to be resolved in 26.
