9to5 Mac published details today of a Mobile Mix report from Millennial Media, which found that the Verizon iPhone accounted for 8.2 percent of iPhone impressions in March, leading to the iOS platform share growing by 11 percent month-over-month. During the time period in question, Android had a 48 percent impression share and iOS a 31 percent impression share, representing a drop from Android’s previous 51 percent share and an increase for iOS’s previous 27 percent share. Breaking down the revenue from apps, the survey found that Apple is still on top, with an estimated 47 percent of the app platform mix, with Android lagging behind with 36 percent. According to the report, Android is still the leading smartphone operating system for the fourth month in a row, with a 48 percent impression share, and 14 of the current top 20 mobile phones being Android phones. As far as individual brands are concerned though, iPhone is still the most popular, with BlackBerry Curve in second place and HTC Evo in third place.
