The “Find My IPhone”app has been completely reworked and not for the better. Very clunky to use and not as easy as the previous versions

Agreed. Find my Friends and Find my iPhone have been combined to the Find My app. On my iDevices, it‘s more accurate than it was with iOS 12 and before.
