Apple is STILL having problems with User ID/Password functions. I downloaded IOS 6 on my Verizon iPhone 4 and it 'completed' the download but noted it had a few more items to finish: click continue. Next up was a window asking me to fill in my Apple ID and Password. They were both rejected several times, despite the fact they were used earlier in the day for purchases in the iTunes Store.
At this point, the iPhone could not be used (get back to the Home screen). I even tried turning it off and back on, but it opened with the same ID/PW screen.
I called Apple Care and the solution was simple. Instead of even trying to create a NEW ID/PW, I was told to click on the "Skip this step" in the lower right side (tiny type!) of the screen. This was followed by a "are you sure you want to skip" box, and the download was finally finished.
Don't know if this solution works with other situations where you have to re-submit your ID/PW, but it works on the iPhone.
