Has anyone figured out how to turn off previews of URLs sent in iMessage?

I'm not talking about the appearance of the preview on the lock screen, but in the body of the message itself.

What I'm looking for is the ability to see a link which I can choose to open (or not) rather than have iMessage do it for me.

Thanks in advance.

No idea if this will help: afaik, Reduce Motion (Settings - Accessibility, enabled) prevents Messages animations. Maybe it will also prevent iMessage from automatically showing the preview of a website.

Thanks Johanna. Just turned it on. If I PM my phone number to you, would you mind sending a link to me so we can check it out?

The preview still shows up with Reduced Motion turned on. Thanks for trying that out, Johanna.

Glad to help.
Looks like there's no way to disable website preview in iMessages.

That is also my thought. I've been through the General, Message and Accessibility Settings and haven't found anything. I can't think of anywhere else to achieve this.
