Apple’s new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are on sale for the first time today, but the repair guys from iFixit have already managed to tear down the smaller model. And, as it was pretty much known already, they've discovered a thicker, heavier display thanks to 3D Touch, and a smaller battery.

According to iFixit, the iPhone 6s isn’t too different from its predecessor, but it does come with a slightly reworked internal layout. This has been caused by the inclusion of new pressure-sensitive 3D Touch display, which allows new gestures called Peek and Pop.

The new display is also the main reason why the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are slightly thicker and heavier than their predecessors.

The Taptic Engine have been found to be placed right beneath the iPhone 6s’ battery, which could explain why Apple had to make its lithium-ion cell slightly smaller this year. It has a 1,715mAh capacity, slightly smaller than iPhone 6’s battery at a capacity of 1,810mAh.

The logic board inside the iPhone 6s consists of Apple’s new A9 processor, 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM manufactured by Samsung, a Qualcomm LTE modem, a 6-axis gyroscope from InvenSense, and a 3-axis accelerometer from Bosch Sensortec and the flash memory from Toshiba.

iFixit awarded the iPhone 6s a repairability score of 7 out of 10.
